Organic Lecithin (Soy and Sunflower)

Lecico is a supplier and manufacturer of organic lecithin for industrial applications. We provide liquid and powdered lecithin based on organic soy and sunflower, meeting the requirements of food, feed and nutraceutical industries.

In contrast to conventionally produced lecithin, organic lecithins are distinguished both by the controlled organic cultivation of the raw material and their purely ecological processing. Organic soybeans or sunflower seeds are mechanically pressed to obtain the oil. By water addition to the pressed oil, the lecithin is isolated through mechanical separation and drying — without the use of any chemical solvents.

Our organic lecithin products are derived from certified raw materials and processed under controlled conditions to ensure consistent quality and full traceability. Organic cultivation means no sewage sludge, no synthetic fertilizers, no pesticides or other plant protection agents. Cultivation is instead based on crop rotation, animal or vegetable fertilizers and biological pest control. Both non-GMO-certified and organic-certified lecithin grades are available, depending on regulatory and labeling requirements.

Organic lecithin is used where emulsification, stabilization and improved processing properties are required. Typical applications include bakery, confectionery, dairy products and instant formulations, where defined functionality and reliable performance are essential.

Certifications and Quality Assurance

All organic lecithins from Lecico are certified by ECOCERT (DE-ÖKO-005) and comply with EU Regulations (EC) No. 834/2007 and (EC) No. 889/2008. They are stored in bio-certified depots to guarantee consistent organic quality across all processes. Organic soy and sunflower lecithins are additionally kosher-certified.

All organic lecithins from Lecico are guaranteed solvent-free, non-GMO certified and provide complete traceability — including full seed origin traceability. Because organic lecithins are produced in strictly controlled quantities, Lecico stores them in specially protected, certified depots to maintain consistent quality and availability.

Applications of Organic Lecithin

Organic lecithin is used in industrial formulations where emulsification, stabilization and process efficiency are required under organic certification standards. As a pure natural product and natural emulsifier, organic lecithin connects water and fat effectively due to its amphiphilic molecular structure. It positively enhances wettability, dispersibility and oxidation stability of products, while also improving viscosity and baking properties.

In bakery applications, organic lecithin improves dough handling, reduces stickiness and supports uniform fat distribution. It contributes to consistent product quality and process stability in industrial production.

In confectionery, lecithin is used to control viscosity, improve flow properties and optimize the processing of chocolate and compound coatings. It enables efficient processing at lower fat content while maintaining product consistency.

In dairy and instant products, organic lecithin supports the dispersion of powders and improves wettability. This is particularly relevant for products that require fast and uniform reconstitution.

Beyond food applications, organic lecithin is also used in feed, nutraceutical and technical formulations, as well as in baby food, diet products, ice cream, waffles and body care products — wherever natural emulsifiers are required and organic certification is a key requirement.

The selection of the appropriate lecithin depends on the formulation, processing conditions and regulatory requirements.

Typical functions of organic lecithin:

  • Emulsification of oil and water phases
  • Improvement of dispersion and wettability
  • Viscosity control in fat-based systems
  • Enhancement of oxidation stability
  • Release agent in industrial processing
  • Stabilization of formulations

Organic Soy Lecithin

Organic soy lecithin is the most widely used lecithin type in industrial food applications. Soy lecithin is characterized by a balanced composition of phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylinositol, providing reliable emulsification and processing performance. It is produced from non-GMO, non-genetically modified soybeans and therefore does not require labeling according to Regulations No. 1829/2003/EC and 1830/2003/EC.

As a manufacturer of organic soy lecithin, Lecico supplies both liquid and deoiled lecithin grades for a wide range of applications. All products are derived from certified organic soybeans and are available in non-GMO quality, meeting international regulatory requirements.

Organic soy lecithin is commonly used in bakery, confectionery and instant products, where consistent functionality and cost-efficient processing are required. It supports stable emulsions, improves flow behavior and enhances dispersion properties in industrial formulations.

Due to its availability and well-defined functional profile, organic soy lecithin is often the preferred choice for large-scale production processes with clearly defined specifications.

Typical properties of organic soy lecithin:

  • Strong emulsifying capacity
  • Good dispersibility in fat-based systems
  • Reliable viscosity control
  • Standardized phospholipid composition
  • Non-GMO certified — no labeling obligation under EU regulations
  • Suitable for a wide range of food and technical applications

Organic Sunflower Lecithin

Organic sunflower lecithin is a non-allergenic alternative to soy-based lecithin and is widely used in formulations where allergen-free labeling is required. It is derived from certified organic sunflower seeds — worldwide, the cultivation of genetically modified sunflower seeds is forbidden, which means all sunflower lecithins are non-GMO and are not subject to specific labeling requirements.

As a lecithin manufacturer and supplier, Lecico provides organic sunflower lecithin in liquid and deoiled powder form. Lecico is one of the few suppliers offering organic sunflower lecithin and has developed its own standardization system for consistently high product quality. The product is available in very light grades with excellent flow characteristics and very good microbiological data, in flexible packaging units from 20 kg to 1,000 kg.

Organic sunflower lecithin is produced without the use of chemical solvents, herbicides or pesticides — corresponding to the concept of a complete, pure organic production. It is suitable for food, nutraceutical and technical applications that require organic certification and clear labeling.

Organic sunflower lecithin is commonly used in bakery, confectionery, dairy alternatives and clean-label products. It supports emulsification, improves dispersion and contributes to stable processing conditions.

Compared to soy lecithin, sunflower lecithin is often preferred in applications where allergen-free raw materials are critical. It provides comparable functional properties while meeting stricter labeling requirements.
